Lady Panthers Capture the 4th Region All A Classic Title

The Cumberland County Lady Panthers are the 2022 Fourth Region Class A Tournament champions and will advance to the state tournament. Cumberland County last won the title in 2008 when Coach Kristen Anderson was a player and made the State All Tournament Team.

In the first game of the tournament, the Lady Panthers traveled to Monroe County to play the Lady Falcons. Cumberland Co. won the game 41-28. Jayleana Smith led scoring with 10, Maggie Morgan 9 points and 11 rebounds, Carly Jo Nettles and Kaylen Franklin both had 8, and Abby Morgan 6.

Wednesday night, the team traveled to Russellville to take on Todd Central. The Lady Panthers won by 4 with a score of 35-31. Kaylen Franklin had 12 points, Maggie Morgan 8, Carly Jo Nettles 6, Jayleana Smith 4, Abby Morgan 3, and Graci Craft 2.

Friday night the championship game was played against Russellville. The Lady Panthers won the game 57-45 and brought home the Fourth Region Class A Championship. Maggie Morgan had 17 points and 19 rebounds, Carly Jo Nettles 14, Kaylen Franklin 10, Abby Morgan 8, Jayleana Smith 7, and Graci Craft 1. The girls shot 58% from the field for the night.

Maggie Morgan, Carly Jo Nettles, and Kaylen Franklin made the All A Tournament Team and Graci Craft made the All A Academic Team.

The team will play next Wednesday against Jackson County in the state tournament.
