T.J. Samson Community Hospital welcomed its first baby of the New Year early Thursday morning with the birth of a healthy baby girl.
May Marifer Velasco Rendon was born at 4:29 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 1, 2026, at T.J. Samson Community Hospital. She weighed 7 pounds, 12 ounces at birth and was delivered by Dr. Todd Bader.
May is the daughter of Christina Rendon Rodriguez and Fernando Velasco Abraham of Cave City. Hospital staff and medical personnel shared in celebrating the milestone birth, marking the first delivery of the year at the facility.
She is also welcomed home by her older sister, Cassandra, age 3, who was likewise born at T.J. Samson Community Hospital.
Hospital representatives congratulated the family and extended well wishes as they begin the New Year with their newest addition.
