State Digs Out Road Resurfaced in Recent Years

Workers ground out some areas of surface damage on South Main Street last week, and in other areas like above drove the grinder deep into the ground to remove old problems.

Local Emergency Services Leadership and others in local government said they knew about the ripping up of the approach to the Ky-90 bridge in town, and the grinding out of large sections of South Main Street after the equipment showed up and work began.

Contact with onsite leadership revealed last week that the re-surfacing work done just two years ago was failing in several places because the sub-base of the roadway was failing.

Paving crews followed close behind the grinding, to replace the 6 to 8-inch trenches the work caused in the roadway.

They said that part of the road had to be removed and replaced with a better base, which was done early last week.

Weather interrupted resealing those stretches of Main Street, but crews are expected back soon.
