The Panthers prevailed against Jackson County TN, Friday night 60–55, after a 68–66 win against Wolf County, closing out a loosing streak in the Four Banks Classic at Garrard County over the Winter Break.
They had fallen to Washington County 65–62 and Garrard County 53–51 at that tournament.
But though the boys had a rough start back at home last Friday night they came through in the end.
The Panthers went in at the end of the third quarter behind 27–18, after ending several runs at the net scoreless t0 start the game, and allowing their competition an early lead.
After a few words of encourage at Half-Time by Head Coach Kurtis Claywell and staff, the team pulled things together.
Rebounding picked up in the second half with a total of 32 for the whole team in the game, led by Zachery Harwood, with 11 and Gavin Craft with 10.
Harwood lead the scoring with 18 points total including 4 of 7 free throws as he was aggressively guarded the whole game. That aggression resulted in him having to take a little time on the bench early on after a shot to the face.
Connor Cash also put up 18 points with 6 of 14 from outside the three-point line.
Overall the team was at 53% at two point shots, 33% in three-point shots and at the free throw line they were 61.5%.
Rounding out the total scoring was Craft with 16 Aiden Branham with 4 Byren Crawley with 3 and Burke Sells with one.
The team faces a string of away games until the end of January, the 28th, when they host Allen County – Scottsville.
