Staff Report

The Cumberland County Civics Club recently met with WBKO Multimedia Journalist and Reporter Lily Pollack at the Cumberland County Courthouse. After quick introductions, Lily asked the young leaders about their goals and upcoming plans. One member mentioned their upcoming visit to Frankfort and another mentioned the recent travel to Atlanta for President Carter’s funeral visitation.

Members of the club continued the discussion by sharing updates on the local splash pad and explained that it was one of their three main priorities when the club was formed in January 2024. The other two priorities are: (1) recruiting a fast-food restaurant to the county, and (2) opening a youth or recreational center in Cumberland County.

“Our county knows how fortunate we are to have this group of young and talented leaders helping to shape the future, but it’s always nice to have visitors who get to see it too. We’re thrilled to have WBKO and Lily covering news in our area,” said Judge-Executive Luke King.

WBKO’s Pollack and King met after the conversation with a dozen civics club members. King and Pollack discussed upcoming events, county priorities, and general information about the community. WBKO is a regional news station operated out of Bowling Green, Kentucky. WBKO has been broadcasting on-air for over 60 years.
