Last week, a number of local business owners and interested parties were treated to a free online class about how to use artificial intelligence. The class was free because it was sponsored by Acre & Main Realty LLC, on the Square in Burkesville.

Kelly Guffey organized the event led online by Frank Kenny and Norma Davey, who work for the Chamber Professionals Community organization.

Hundreds of chambers across the country joined in the lessons.

They focused on one particular AI provider, ChatGPT. They stressed the need for using the paid version, at the $20 a month level, in order to get the best tools and the best privacy.

The presenters went over how to generate a quality “prompt,” which is the instructions you give to the AI about what you want done and how you want it done.

Kenny stressed that, “this is no more cheating than a doctor using an x-ray machine.”

He said it is simply a new tool for businesses to use, especially in marketing and online promotion.

“The world changes and if you’re not keeping up with that change, then your business is falling behind, “Kenny explained.

They went over AI’s uses in research, writing, and creation of graphics.

Several in the class said that they were already trying to use AI and indicated they appreciated the class, though some said that they were hoping for some more in-depth.

Guffey said they are hoping to provide more such classes to interested business owners as part of what the Chamber does for the community.

Liza Tucker said she was happy to provide funding for this first event from her and her husband’s real estate business. It is hoped that other civic-minded individuals will also help fund future, expanded offerings.
