“We served over a thousand people this weekend,” Scott said Monday. “People in here today said this was one of the nicest food experiences they’d ever had.”
Several diners said that it was great food and great ambience, though some mentioned it took a while to get their food.
“We were a little bit slow, because we had so much coming out,” Scott said. “And I mean, it’s going to take a little time to have good food.”
He stressed that theirs was not a fast-food chain establishment. At the Bistro, they make it fresh after you order.
“Besides that, we didn’t have any complaints on the food at all,” he added.
Since nearly all the staff have no previous experience doing the work they are now, they are growing into things, he indicated.

Even though the grand opening was Friday, the Italian Bistro had a dry-run earlier in the week, serving friends and family, though word of the event seems to have spread through the community. But Sheffield said it was a good baptism for the cooking-staff and wait-staff. PHOTO | Greg Wells
Asked if he and Suzanne were enjoying their third business, Scott said, “Oh, yeah, we enjoyed it. We got to see a lot of people, we had people coming up from Tennessee and a lot of other different places.”
The couple also have a florist business and auction house in town, and both are still up and running.
Scot said they have a singer-songwriter coming to perform this Saturday evening, and Ryan, one of the waiters who performed during the grand opening Friday night, will be singing a couple of times a month, Scot said.
Fresh cannoli’s, tiramisu and cheesecake have been a big hit, judging by a peak as the tables several times as well as to-go boxes.
Fresh Italian food, full-service bar, a relaxed sit-down atmosphere and friendly service are just a few of the things diners can expect at Burkesville’s own Italian Bistro.
