Lady Panthers Keep Winning

The Lady Panthers wrapped up a seven-game winning streak with a victory at home against Jackson County, Gainsboro TN last Friday.

Cumberland County’s girls took the Tennessee team 61 to 51, though some foul trouble lait in that game had narrowed their victory.

Overall, the girls played a hard charging game, with everyone giving their best.

They were coming off a win 65–32 against Caverna, which was preceded by a 53–20 trouncing of Hart County.

Their only recent dark spot was a loss against Bowling Green 28–50 in the fourth region State Farm challenge.

After that they had defeated Clinton County 43–27 followed by Campbellsville 66–55 in two home games before heading to Greenwood and winning 46–39 and then facing Grayson County in the Metcalf mania competition where they won 51–36.

In their last game, against the girls from Tennessee, scoring was led by Madi Cooksey with 23 who hit 10 of 13 two-pointers, and three of three free throws.

Keagan Walden pulled in 13 points, followed by Kenzi Willen with 12 and Jordyn McDonald with 10. Rounding out the scoring was Abby Morgan who contributed three.

 

Jordan McDonald lines up for two free throws, sinking both with confidence.  She finished the game with an impressive 8 makes out of 10 attempts from the charity stripe.

 

Willen lead the rebounding, with 13, followed by Cooksey with nine and Morgan with eight. McDonald pulled down three while Aubrey Alexander and Walden pulled down to a piece.

Add present the girls stand 37th in the statewide standings. That places them as one of the highest small schools in the state.
