The weather cooperated for this year’s 29th annual Cumberland River Bluegrass Festival, with no rain and reasonable temperatures, allowing in big crowds for the three-day festival.
Amongst the sounds of gospel and bluegrass music were several contests. First among those is the annual Duck Derby. This year’s winner was Dianna Turner, 2nd Pl., Golda Stanley and the third-place winner was Vic Lowhorn.
Winning the drawing for a beautiful guitar was Phil Hovious. Winning the quilt was Tonya Hardin.
The organizers, led by their chairperson Carolyn Smith, expressed appreciation to the city for the use of the park and for all of the many volunteers who helped decorate and manage the event.
Planning for next year’s big Pearl Anniversary, the festival’s 30th, will be underway soon, so contact Carolyn and other board members to find out how you can help out.
